Dr. B. Grant Bishop, M.D., P.C. (retired), is a man whose life’s work has been dedicated to both healing and understanding. Through his unique perspective, Dr. Bishop now offers readers a refreshing way to engage with divine principles in his book, The LDS Gospel of Light.

Professional Background

For over 35 years, Dr. Bishop practiced dermatology as a solo practitioner, dedicating his career to diagnosing and treating skin conditions. His practice wasn’t just about medicine; it was about building relationships and offering peace to those in need. Dr. Bishop also served as an adjunct professor of dermatology at the University of Utah and worked at Dartmouth Medical School, where he not only taught future doctors but also mentored and guided them in the art of compassionate care. Despite his success in the medical field, his path led him to question the deeper meanings of life, faith, and the universe, and that curiosity has shaped his work today.

Connection Between Faith and Science

Dr. Bishop’s exploration into the intersection of faith and science began during his medical career. His work in dermatology allowed him to see the complex ways the human body functions, which sparked his curiosity about how everything in life is interconnected. As he moved toward spiritual exploration, he realized that science and faith could complement each other rather than conflict. This inspired his book, The LDS Gospel of Light, where Dr. Bishop uses the properties of light—both scientific and spiritual—to illustrate God’s omnipresence and the divine order of the universe.

The Inspiration Behind “The LDS Gospel of Light”

The inspiration for The LDS Gospel of Light came from Dr. Bishop’s lifelong search for meaning. Throughout his career, he witnessed the healing power of faith and the profound impact of understanding. He felt compelled to share his insights about God’s nature and how His presence is woven into every aspect of life. In this book, Dr. Bishop presents light as a symbol for both scientific understanding and spiritual wisdom. He explores how divine truths are reflected in the natural world and how understanding light can lead to a deeper connection with God.

Dr. Bishop’s Mission

Dr. Bishop’s mission is simple yet profound: to help others find peace and understanding through both science and faith. He believes that true healing goes beyond the body and extends to the mind and spirit. Through his book, Dr. Bishop encourages readers to look beyond the surface and explore the deeper questions that lead to spiritual enlightenment. His work aims to help individuals recognize the divine in their everyday lives and live with greater purpose and peace.

Legacy and Impact

Dr. Bishop’s legacy is one of service, compassion, and enlightenment. His years in dermatology provided relief to countless patients, but it was his ability to listen, care, and guide them that left a lasting impact. As a teacher, he shaped future doctors and inspired them to approach medicine with empathy and wisdom. Now, as an author, Dr. Bishop hopes to leave a legacy of spiritual understanding that will continue to inspire and guide others. The LDS Gospel of Light is more than just a book—it’s a guide to seeing the world and our faith through a new lens.

About The Author

B. Grant Bishop, M.D.

Dr. B. Grant Bishop, M.D., has led a life defined by dedication to both the medical and spiritual realms. With a career spanning 49 years in dermatology, Dr. Bishop opened his solo practice in 1975, committed not only to healing through medical expertise but also through genuine personal connections with his patients. After retiring from private practice, he embarked on a second career in locum tenens, serving in various cities across the West Coast, Midwest, and even contributing to the dermatology department at Dartmouth Medical School in New Hampshire.

His passion for teaching was equally profound. As an adjunct professor at the University of Utah School of Medicine, he mentored countless medical students and served on the admissions committee for over two decades, shaping the next generation of medical professionals.

While Dr. Bishop found immense fulfillment in dermatology—whether by preventing acne scars in teens or detecting skin cancer early—his deeper calling was always rooted in the spiritual. His brief pause from medical school to teach theology at Brigham Young University (1971–72) illuminated a path where science and faith could coexist. This blend of the scientific and the spiritual shaped not just his medical career but also his life’s philosophy: to heal both the body and the soul.

Dr. Bishop is the author of The Song of God, a deeply personal exploration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and humanity’s eternal journey toward divinity. He also penned The LDS Gospel of Light, a thoughtful intersection of science and religion, and is currently working on The Passion of Godly Love and Light, which blends scripture, near-death experiences, and scientific insights to delve into the transformative love of Christ.

Now retired at 85, Dr. Bishop reflects on a life of service, healing, and the profound joy of guiding others toward peace—both in body and spirit.
